João Vilhena's 'Predizione Perdizione' at Galerie Alberta Pane, Paris

From September 5 to 30, 2026, Galerie Alberta Pane in Paris will showcase 'Predizione Perdizione', the third drawing series by Portuguese artist João Vilhena. This exhibition follows his previous displays in Venice and at the Musée Fesch and includes large-scale pieces alongside new smaller drawings crafted in black stone on grey cardboard. The works delve into themes of historical memory and contemporary challenges, portraying hybrid interpretations of disaster featuring human figures in diverse conditions. Vilhena alters familiar images to create perceptual disjunctions. Jean-Joseph Renucci emphasizes the role of mineral elements in the artwork, highlighting the contrast between permanence and human vulnerability. Born in Beja, Portugal, in 1973, Vilhena resides in Paris and is a recipient of the Rothschild Painting Prize. The gallery is located at 44–47 rue de Montmorency, 75003 Paris, open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
