Joan Miró retrospective with over 100 works opens at MAB FAAP in São Paulo

The Museu de Arte Brasileira da FAAP (MAB FAAP) in São Paulo will host the exhibition "Miró: Mestre das Formas" from August 7 to October 12, featuring over 100 original works by Joan Miró. Organized by the Instituto Totex, the show includes paintings, sculptures, prints, tapestries, and photographs from the Fundació Joan Miró, Fundació Miró Mallorca, Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Mallorca, and private European collections. Many pieces are being exhibited for the first time in Brazil, some never before leaving Spain. Curated by Spanish historian Jordi J. Clavero, the exhibition is divided into five thematic sections exploring Miró's visual language of organic forms, poetic symbols, and intense colors. The Instituto Totex continues its strategy of bringing major international exhibitions to Brazil, following its 2025 Andy Warhol retrospective that attracted over 300,000 visitors. CEO Roberto Souza Leão emphasized the commitment to broadening public access to art heritage. FAAP counselor Pilar Guillon Liotti noted the exhibition strengthens cultural dialogue, while MAB FAAP director Marcos Moraes highlighted Miró's consistent formal research. The show is supported by the Rouanet Law and results from collaboration between Instituto Totex, Fundació Joan Miró, and Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado.
