JFA Yachts Launches 86-Foot Long Island 87 Sailing Catamaran for Global Circumnavigation
The Long Island 87, an 86-foot sailing catamaran crafted by French shipyard JFA Yachts, has officially been launched, aimed at families looking to circumnavigate the globe. This model fits between the 85 and 100 in JFA's Long Island series, prioritizing comfort, reliability, and cruising autonomy. The owner remarked that it achieves “the perfect balance between performance under sail and functional living spaces.” Previous versions of the 85 have successfully traversed regions such as Antarctica, Greenland, and the Baltic Sea. Designed by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group, the 87 boasts aluminum hulls and a composite deck for reduced weight. With a 39-foot beam, it includes a flybridge, cockpit, and lounge, while its interiors offer over 1,330 square feet for ten guests and four crew, featuring custom designs by Darnet Design. Mast stepping is finished, and the catamaran is preparing for its maiden voyage.
