Jesús Rafael Soto's 'Pénétrable BBL Jaune' Debuts in London's Kensington Gardens

Jesús Rafael Soto's 'Pénétrable BBL Jaune' has been unveiled at Kensington Gardens by Serpentine South Gallery, representing the Venezuelan artist's inaugural outdoor exhibit in the UK. This engaging installation features 4,000 yellow PVC tubes suspended from a rectangular steel framework, encouraging visitors to walk through and engage with the artwork. Initially designed in 1999, it was reissued in 2023 to celebrate Soto's centenary. Scheduled as part of Serpentine's summer program for 2026, the installation will be accessible from June 20 to October 25, 2026. Renowned for his contributions to kinetic and optical art, Soto produced over 70 'Pénétrable' pieces, examining the interplay between space and perception. Additional Soto works will also be showcased inside the South Gallery during the summer.
