Jesse Butterfield Debuts Paper and Steel Works at London Design Festival 2026
During the London Design Festival 2026, which took place from September 12 to 20 in the Brompton Design District, designer Jesse Butterfield presented the Sew Paper Lighting and Stool Des Pois collections at the exhibition titled A Veil Boundary, curated by Alex Tieghi-Walker. The Sew Paper Lighting series, created in collaboration with The Paper Foundation and sixth-generation papermaker Mark Cropper, showcases handmade paper shades mounted on stainless steel frames. Meanwhile, the Stool Des Pois series, inspired by a paper prototype, is made from steel, giving it a lightness reminiscent of paper. Each stool features distinctive polka dot designs crafted from blackened metal. Butterfield highlighted the concept of "perfectly imperfect." RCA students also displayed stools, and Isamaya French unveiled her second Studio Iron exhibition. Photography by Andy Stagg.
