For the 2026 Watches & Wonders Geneva event, French designer Jean-Simon Roch crafted 'Mysterious Mechanics' for Hermès Horloger. This installation reimagines watch showcases as a dynamic theater, drawing inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci and Georges Méliès. It unveils the inner workings of skeleton watches alongside theatrical elements, featuring pulleys and wooden frameworks that encourage interaction. Central to the display is a sculptural piece that serves as both an automaton and an architectural element, with each timepiece acting as a tiny performer. The deep navy ambiance creates a sense of suspended time. Roch incorporated wood and rope for a warm feel, contrasting with modern digital elements, while Pierre Ronin composed the accompanying music.
