Jean-Pierre Lott Designs New ÉSAD de Reims Campus on Port Colbert Site
Architect Jean-Pierre Lott, known for the médiathèque de Pantin, the tour Honoria in Monaco, and the Studium library in Strasbourg, has designed a new building for the École supérieure d'art et de design (ÉSAD) de Reims. The structure is located on the former industrial site Port Colbert, near the Magasins Généraux. Initially planned for July 2025, the building will open to students in September 2026, featuring a cast concrete facade, inclined and cantilevered planes, and large green terraces. The school previously operated on two separate sites, Cathédrale and Franchet d'Esperey. The five-story building uses 7,500 cubic meters of concrete and 750 tons of steel, requiring two and a half years of construction at a total cost of 42 million euros. Funding comes from the Communauté urbaine du Grand Reims, with support from the French state and the Grand Est region. The project consolidates the art and design programs into a single campus.
