Javier Senosiain's El Nido de Quetzalcóatl: Organic Housing Complex in Naucalpan
El Nido de Quetzalcóatl, completed in 2007, is a residential complex located in Naucalpan, Mexico, created by architect Javier Senosiain. This project showcases organic architecture, embodying Senosiain's belief that "Architecture should respect the landscape." Inspired by the feathered-serpent god Quetzalcóatl, the building features a twisting ferrocement design, standing 21.33 feet tall and 28.2 feet wide, and contains 10 apartments distributed over two levels. Each level covers approximately 2,152 square feet and includes internal vaults and circular windows. Nestled among gardens and an oak forest, it forms part of Parque Quetzalcóatl, which also has an open-air theater and greenhouse. Although not open to the public, bookings can be made online, with two apartments listed on Airbnb, recommended to be reserved six months ahead.
