Jason Limon's Trompe-L'œil Paintings Reveal Skeletons Beneath Vintage Illustrations

San Antonio-based artist Jason Limon creates trompe-l'œil paintings that depict torn vintage illustrations revealing hidden skeletal worlds. Using acrylic and oil paints, his recent works feature ripped paper effects that expose three-dimensional scenes populated by skeletons. Limon's practice explores life after death, stripping bony figures of identity to function as anonymous entities. He intentionally slowed his creative pace to allow more experimentation and playfulness, stating that his two artistic identities will eventually merge.
