JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina Unveil Tensei Honda NSX Restomod

other · 2026-04-24

JAS Motorsport has introduced the Tensei, a modernized take on the Honda NSX, created in collaboration with Pininfarina. The term Tensei means "rebirth" in Japanese, aiming to elevate the classic NSX into supercar territory. Each original car is completely taken apart and rebuilt using lightweight carbon-fiber panels. Pininfarina's new design improves aerodynamics while keeping iconic features like the pop-up headlights and integrated rear wing intact. Even though JAS has worked with Honda since the late 1990s, Honda isn’t involved in this project. With engine upgrades from Judd Power, the Tensei delivers 414 hp and 305 ft lbs of torque, and it weighs 2,756 pounds—nearly 300 pounds lighter than the original. Only 35 units will be made, starting at 880,000 euros (about $985,000), excluding the donor vehicle. The first NSX was launched in 1990 after extensive development, known for its all-aluminum body and V-Tech V-6 engine that produced nearly 300 hp, and it was marketed as an Acura in North America, celebrated for its performance and everyday practicality.
