Jan Baszak's 'A Gentle Kiss on a Double Forehead' at BGSW, Słupsk

In Słupsk, Poland, the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art (BGSW) is currently featuring Jan Baszak's exhibition titled 'A Gentle Kiss on a Double Forehead,' which presents his artistic creations from the past seven years. The exhibition delves into leather as a medium that embodies memory and usage, while also examining themes of fetishism and ethical connections with remnants. Baszak’s sculptures of animals, crafted from repurposed materials, reflect a perspective of wounds and skin. A standout work includes a two-headed calf, prioritizing intricacy over wholeness. Baszak, who operates out of Szczecin, Warsaw, and Berlin, is represented by Whoispola.
