Jakob Lena Knebl's Sommerfrische at Marmorschlössl, Bad Ischl: A Review

exhibition · 2026-09-29

From May 1 to October 31, 2026, Jakob Lena Knebl's Sommerfrische will be showcased at the Marmorschlössl in Bad Ischl, Austria. Curated by Lucas Cuturi, this exhibition highlights Knebl's pieces, such as Art of Noise and Me, Myself and I, which engage with the historic setting. An outdoor display features wooden huts perched on chicken-like legs in Kaiserpark, drawing inspiration from Baba Jaga folklore. Notable student contributions include Olha Horiunova's Date mit dem Erlkönig (2025). A review by Dominique Foertig and Ernst commends the exhibition for its humor and openness. Knebl, who represented Austria at the 2022 Venice Biennale, is a Vienna-based artist. The Marmorschlössl hosts contemporary art each summer. Hours: May–Sep: Mon–Sun 9.30 am–5 pm; Oct: Mon–Sun 10 am–4 pm. Location: Jainzen 1, 4820 Bad Ischl.
