Jacqueline Gourevitch, 93, Paints WTC Views for 25 Years, Prepares First Armory Show Booth
Since 2009, Jacqueline Gourevitch, a 93-year-old artist, has been granted a studio on the 80th floor of 3 World Trade Center by Silverstein Properties. Her artistic focus is on cloud and aerial cityscape paintings. Gourevitch began her residency at the WTC in September 2000, which concluded in spring 2001, just six months prior to the events of 9/11. Born in Paris in 1933, she escaped Europe in 1940 and settled in New York. She studied at Black Mountain College and later taught at Wesleyan University. Although her work is included in over 20 museum collections, she has yet to hold a solo museum exhibition. She will showcase a solo booth at the Armory Show with Storage gallery. Her husband passed away in 2020, and they have two sons.
