Jacob Dyrenforth's 'The Youth Are Getting Restless' at Wil Aballe, Vancouver

Wil Aballe presents Jacob Dyrenforth's first solo exhibition with the gallery, 'The Youth Are Getting Restless,' featuring his signature meticulously rendered drawings based on degraded digital images from the internet, phone photos, or AI generation. The series explores crowd theory and the concept of the 'supraorganism,' where a group loses individualism and acts as a single entity, capable of both creative expression and destructive violence. Dyrenforth draws from cultural moments ranging from late 1970s house music clubs to the January 6th insurrection re-enactment. His manual rendering slows down and concretizes these collective moments. Dyrenforth, based in Vancouver, holds an MFA from Columbia University and has exhibited at Reina Sofia, Madrid; Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati; Socrates Sculpture Park; and High Desert Test Site. His solo shows include Renwick Gallery, Sandroni Rey, Wallspace Gallery, and Cirrus Gallery. The exhibition runs at Wil Aballe in Vancouver.
