Iván Argote to Debut Permanent Piazza del Chafleo in Bene Vagienna, Italy

artist · 2026-10-01

On October 11, Iván Argote, a Colombian artist, is set to unveil a permanent installation in Bene Vagienna, a town in Italy's Cuneo province. This project, part of the third edition of the Radis public art initiative, will transform a public space into what’s called Piazza del Chafleo. Known for his impressive pigeon sculpture, Dinosaur (2024), located on New York's High Line, Argote has created sculptures that echo Bene Vagienna's history, its water management, Roman ruins, and religious mysticism. Supported by Fondazione Arte CRT and Fondazione CRC, the Radis project’s name means 'root' in Piedmontese. Meanwhile, Argote's exhibition Mamarrachos: Quinceañera runs at Perrotin in London from October 6 to December 19, showcasing new work. Additionally, his exhibit How to Move a Monument on a Tuesday Morning is at Dallas Contemporary until January 31, 2027.
