IV Biennale Angewandter Kunst: 70 Years of AdK Hamburg at Museum der Arbeit

The IV Biennale Angewandter Kunst, titled 'GUT GEMACHT! Das Beste aus 70 Jahren', opens at the Museum der Arbeit in Hamburg from July 1 to September 6, 2026, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kunsthandwerk Hamburg (AdK). The exhibition juxtaposes works by 70 contemporary AdK artists with 30 historical pieces from the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe collection, all by former AdK members. Spanning jewelry, furniture, glass, textiles, paper, and ceramics, the show highlights the evolution of applied arts over decades, contrasting traditional techniques with experimental approaches and sustainable materials. The biennial is a collaboration between AdK Hamburg and the Stiftung Historische Museen Hamburg, accompanied by a catalog tracing AdK's history through selected loans. The Carolina D’Amico Prize for contemporary craftsmanship will be awarded at the opening on June 30, 2026, at 7 PM.
