David Riondino, an Italian singer, songwriter, actor, and writer known for his television appearances in the 1980s and 1990s, has passed away in Rome at age 73. He gained widespread recognition for his song "Maracaibo," which he co-wrote with Maria Luisa Colombo. The track was composed in 1975 but not released until 1981 after multiple record labels rejected it due to its controversial lyrics about a Creole woman named Zazà. Riondino began his career in the 1970s by founding the musical collective Victor Jara with his sister, releasing two albums. He later contributed to publications such as Tango, Il Male, and Cuore. His television work included frequent appearances on the Maurizio Costanzo Show, where he provided comic relief, and participation in various editions of Quelli che il calcio.
