artist · 2026-09-22

Issy Wood, an artist originally from America and now based in London, showcased her experimental pop music at the Bull Room in Marfa, Texas, marking her fifth live performance. Known for her paintings held in prestigious collections like Tate and the Whitney, Wood has been creating music since 2018, with releases including two albums—My Body Your Choice (2022) and Accidental America (2024)—alongside various EPs and singles. During her Marfa performance, she collaborated with a band and Nashville backing vocalists, sharing her experiences with anorexia and bulimia. At 33, Wood's faith in God has deepened, and she is set to exhibit self-portraits at the National Portrait Gallery. The venue, Ballroom Marfa, was co-founded by Fairfax Dorn and has been influenced by Donald Judd since 1971. Photography by Sarah M Vasquez.
