Island Crest: Midcentury Home Reimagined by ONOMA Architecture

ONOMA Architecture has completed Island Crest, a 4,000-square-foot residential remodel on Mercer Island, Washington, finished in 2025. The project, led by Bryan Pendz, transformed a 1958 midcentury home into a forever home for a young couple drawn to its original Pacific Northwest craftsmanship and the magnolia tree in the front yard. The gut renovation updated the structure to support a growing family and an open-door social lifestyle. Key collaborators include general contractor Mercer Builders and structural engineers B2 Engineers. Photographs by Rafael Soldi document the result, which preserves the home's midcentury character while modernizing its interior and systems. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira.
