Irish Artist Seánie Harte Paints All 11 Roy Keane Red Cards for Dublin Show

Irish painter Seánie Harte has created a series of oil pastel paintings documenting all 11 times Roy Keane was sent off while playing for Manchester United. The series, titled 'Red Card', will be exhibited as 'Sent Off: Paintings of Every Roy Keane Red Card' at Hen's Teeth in Dublin starting September 3. Harte, a 36-year-old graphic designer from Dublin, returned to painting two years ago for creative fulfillment. Inspired by Keane's candid podcast recollections of his red cards, Harte aimed to transform aggressive moments into colorful, playful images. Each painting is paired with a one-liner from Keane, such as 'People annoy me – and he still annoys me' for the scuffle with Alan Shearer, and 'Gareth deserved that' for the stamp on Gareth Southgate. The series includes depictions of incidents against Crystal Palace, Blackburn, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Alf-Inge Haaland. Harte first shared the images on Instagram and sells prints online. He also paints other subjects, including scenes from Father Ted and recent football events like an Irish fan taunting Cristiano Ronaldo. Keane's representatives have not commented, but Harte jokes that he dreams of Keane harshly critiquing his artwork. The exhibition has received a positive response since Harte first posted the paintings last year.
