Invader Installs Daft Punk and Barbara Mosaics at Philharmonie de Paris

French street artist Invader has installed a series of pixelated ceramic tile mosaics across the Philharmonie de Paris and the adjacent Cité de la Musique, designed by architect Jean Nouvel. The works coincide with the ongoing 'Video Games & Music' exhibition. Among the new mosaics are tributes to French electronic duo Daft Punk (Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo), chanson singer Barbara (born Monique Serf), and the American rock band The Velvet Underground. Each references past exhibitions held at the venue: 'Electro: From Kraftwerk to Daft Punk' (2019), 'Barbara' (2017), and 'The Velvet Underground: New York Extravaganza' (2016). The mosaics integrate into Nouvel's angular metallic surfaces. Invader's global invasion began in Paris in the late 1990s and now includes over 4,000 works across 80 cities. His previous Paris milestones include a mosaic at the Centre Pompidou (his 1500th Paris invasion) and works sent to the International Space Station and the ocean floor off Cancún.
