Intimate Garden Scene (in Beirut) Revisits 1990s Lebanese Art at Sursock Museum
The Sursock Museum in Beirut hosts 'Intimate Garden Scene (in Beirut)', marking the opening chapter of Home Works 9: A Forum on Cultural Practices, presented by Ashkal Alwan. This exhibition revisits significant artistic developments in Lebanon since the 1990s, emphasizing personal narratives and lived experiences. The title pays homage to Ashkal Alwan’s first initiative at Sanayeh Garden in 1995. It encourages viewers to contemplate Lebanon's recent challenges through the lens of daily life. A film program will be offered bi-weekly, commencing in January 2024. The exhibition showcases works from over 70 artists, including notable names such as Mohamad Abdouni, Etel Adnan, Walid Raad, and Akram Zaatari.
