Interior Designers Scarlett Supple and James Thurstan Waterworth Renovate 19th-Century Cottage in Maiden Bradley

British interior designers Scarlett Supple (36) and James Thurstan Waterworth (41) have moved into a 1,722-square-foot, four-bedroom house in the center of Maiden Bradley, South West England, after previously renting a 4,000-square-foot farmhouse outside the village. The couple, who run Studio Supple and Thurstan respectively, had been visiting the area since 2019 when Waterworth was hired to refurbish the Bradley Hare inn. The new home is a two-story limestone-and-brick structure made from two combined 19th-century worker's cottages with a Victorian red-brick addition. They merged a small porch with the sitting room to open the ground floor and painted walls in warm whites, dusky mauve, and a custom teal from Francesca's Paints called Thurstan Blue. The interiors feature an antique perde textile framing windows, an 18th-century Spanish banquet table, mismatched French provincial dining chairs, a Turkish textile, an antique French textile panel depicting the tree of life, a gilded antique frame, a black ceramic vase by London-based Japanese potter Akiko Hirai, an 18th-century Dutch table, and a 19th-century English chess set. The couple has two children, Bibi (5) and Bertie (3).
