INI Design Studio Transforms Rajkot Lake into Multifunctional Urban Waterbody
The Atal Sarovar, a newly revitalized urban lake named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is now complete as a part of Rajkot's Smart City initiative. INI Design Studio transformed a natural depression in a 930-acre area into a functional urban water body. Covering 303,514 m², the lake features stormwater management, ecological restoration, and facilities for the public. It follows water-sensitive urbanism to promote sustainable development. Key figures on the project include mentor Jayesh Hariyani, design leads Saumil Mevada and Rakhi Rupani, senior architect Viresha Hariyani, and senior civil engineer Meet Maradia. Cube Construction Engineering Ltd. handled the building, with contributions from Miwa Negoro for curation and Vinay Panjwani for photography.
