Ingeborg Tysse's 'Old Snag' Transforms Dead Trees into Sculpture

Ingeborg Tysse, born in 1992 in Stavanger, is set to showcase her inaugural solo exhibition in Italy, titled 'Old Snag', at Société Interludio in Cambiano, Turin. This event, curated by Caterina Avataneo, will run from May 26 to July 26, 2026. The exhibition features three deceased cherry trees embellished with large Elizabethan ruffs, clerical collars, and belts, emphasizing their decay. The title alludes to a standing dead tree that serves as a habitat for various wildlife. Additionally, Tysse will display digital jacquard weavings depicting intertwined branches alongside ribcages and ears, a cylindrical metal grid, and bronze roots with collars. The exhibit examines prosthetics as acts of care for life transformation, intertwining themes of ecological mourning and grotesque irony while reflecting our longing to preserve change.
