Indigenous American Art Takes Over Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park presents 'Hold to This Earth', a group exhibition featuring 38 Indigenous American artists. The show fills the underground galleries with clay, earth, fabric, ceramics, painting, and sculpture addressing stolen land, ancestral traditions, and queer identity. Highlights include Navajo weavings by Tyrrell Tapaha and Melissa Cody, patterned beadwork by Jeffrey Gibson, and a towering geometric column by Dyani White Hawk. Gibson explores the intersection of queer identity and Indigenous culture, White Hawk pushes into pure abstraction, and Cody mixes pixelated patterns. The exhibition transforms the rolling Yorkshire hills into a space of memory, oppression, and freedom.
