INCLS Designs Teatro Moganshan Liaoyuan in Zhejiang

The Teatro Moganshan Liaoyuan, designed by INCLS (One Design), is a new performing arts venue located in the village of Liaoyuan, within the Moganshan area of western Zhejiang, China. The project, completed in 2025, covers an area of 3,972 square meters and was commissioned by the Deqing County Cultural Tourism Development Group Co., Ltd., a local state-owned developer. The design team, led by Bing Bu, includes Ye Chen, Qingqing Wang, Leonardo Citterio, and Xingyuan Wang. The project also involved collaboration with several firms: SCD (Suzhou) Survey and Design Consulting Co., Ltd. for engineering, Ximu Landscape for landscape design, urbaneer for project planning and urban design, ConCom and XV studio for urban design, and +Group for design coordination. The construction was carried out by Zhejiang Dadongwu Group Construction Co., Ltd. Photography is credited to Yumeng Zhu. The theater is part of a series of new developments along Yu Street in Liaoyuan, initiated by Deqing Culture and Tourism, which are intensifying the region's long-standing cultural and economic ties with Shanghai. Moganshan, one of China's oldest and most renowned summer retreats, has historically challenged traditional binaries of traditional/modern, urban/rural, and local/foreign, and these new projects continue that trend.
