Imogen Allen's 'Echo' at MONTI8: Painting as an Echo of the Natural World

Imogen Allen, a native of Newlyn, Cornwall, was born in 1997 and is currently showcasing her solo exhibition titled 'Echo' at MONTI8 in Rome, which will be open until June 30, 2026. The British artist, who earned a Fine Art Painting diploma from Camberwell College of Arts in 2020, delves into her connection with nature, depicting elements like plants, fungi, lichens, marine life, and butterfly wings. Her work combines figuration with abstraction, highlighting perceptual possibilities. Curator Maria Vittoria Pinotti refers to Allen's paintings as a 'visual labyrinth,' echoing Wassily Kandinsky's concept of 'inner sound.' Allen has gained recognition in the realm of new British painting, having exhibited at venues such as Soho Revue, Unit London, and Mulrooney Gallery, and participated in events like NADA Miami, Felix Art Fair, and CAN Art Madrid.
