Il Giardino d'Autunno: Silvia Guberti's Ceramics at Formigine's Biblioteca Civica
Silvia Guberti, a Formigine-born artist whose practice has spanned ceramics, sculpture and installation for more than fifty years, is the subject of Il Giardino d'Autunno, an homage exhibition curated by Claudia Zanfi. The show opens on Saturday 19 September 2026 at 18.00 and runs until 4 October 2026 at the Biblioteca Civica Daria Bertolani Marchetti, Via Sant'Antonio 4, Formigine (MO). Guberti's ceramics are installed in the library's Sala Ovale, whose floral decorations echo her botanical vocabulary, and extend into the park of Villa Gandini, where monumental Ginkgo Biloba trees appear to carry the exhibition's forms and suggestions outdoors. Materiality anchors her poetics: clay subjected to fire, Raku with its unpredictable cracks, the imprint left on surfaces, and the shift from object to environmental installation. Fragility is treated as a form of resistance, imperfection as a language. Influenced by Japanese culture and the practice of Shodo, Guberti has built a research suspended between East and West, gesture and meditation, matter and space. Her path has intersected with major figures of contemporary art, including Hidetoshi Nagasawa, and with experiences of the Italian avant-garde linked to Pari & Dispari. The exhibition presents works that are never merely objects but presences capable of dialogue with space and time, seeking a deep equilibrium between humanity and nature.
