IKEA and Xbox Launch YXSTABY Gaming Furniture Collection at Gamescom

At Gamescom in Cologne, IKEA and Xbox unveiled YXSTABY, a nine-piece furniture collection marking Xbox's debut in gaming furniture. Designed by paired teams of IKEA and Xbox designers, the range aims to blend into home environments. The standout piece is a stool modeled on the Xbox controller's thumbstick, featuring a curved base that tilts in all directions and grippy tessellated edges. Other items include a stainless-steel platter and a green cushion shaped like the D-pad, a rolling TV stand (IKEA's first since 2012), a wooden toolbox doubling as a laptop stand, a side table with charging stations, and a lounge chair with hidden storage. IKEA product design developer Philip Dilé stated the goal was to create furniture people want in their homes, not just accept for gaming. Xbox design director Elliot Hsu explained the challenge was making a great stool that still felt like a thumbstick, refined from original controller design files. The collection uses timber and muted neutrals with green accents, and includes casters and handles for mobility. This follows IKEA's previous gaming furniture launches, including an inflatable chair and high-tech desks with Republic of Gamers.
