Ikea and Raffaella Mangiarotti Introduce Two New Floor Lamps in Ongoing Collaboration

Ikea, the Swedish furniture retailer, has launched two new floor lamps designed by Milan-based industrial designer Raffaella Mangiarotti, continuing their partnership that began in January 2025. The lamps, named 'Mossplym' and 'Trådnate', are available at accessible price points, with 'Mossplym' priced at £70 and currently on sale, while 'Trådnate' costs £50 and will be released soon. Mangiarotti created these pieces as sculptural lighting that combines ambient and task functions, aiming to merge Nordic design principles with aesthetic appeal without appearing artificially joined. 'Mossplym' features materials such as solid oak, blow-molded glass, and Italian white Carrara marble, with a design inspired by flower blossoms, while 'Trådnate' has an angular, architectural form influenced by natural geometry, with two opaque shades casting light in opposite directions. This release represents Ikea's move toward a more international design language, blending Scandinavian simplicity with contemporary elements. Mangiarotti's collaboration with Ikea is long-term, with additional lighting products in development; her earlier work with the brand, including a collection with orchid-like forms made from folded paper, was nominated for Italy's prestigious Compasso d'Oro award. The designer expressed enthusiasm for lighting design and the global reach offered by Ikea. The lamps can be purchased through Ikea's website or in physical stores.
