III Coloquio de Arquitectura Mexicana: Arquitectura y Memoria en Madrid

The Fundación Casa de México en España, in collaboration with the Fundación Monumental México, will host the III Coloquio de Arquitectura Mexicana, titled 'Arquitectura y Memoria', on September 24 and 28, 2026, as part of the Semana de la Arquitectura in Madrid. The event brings together architects Benjamín Romano, Fernanda Canales, Rozana Montiel, and Andrés Escobar in formats including keynote lectures, panel discussions, and special architecture tours. The program is aimed primarily at architects, designers, professionals, and academics. The thematic axes include memory as a material for architectural projects, contemporary Mexican architecture's continuity and rupture, built heritage from conservation to activation, and the dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary architecture, as well as city, cultural landscape, and collective memory. On September 24, from 17:00 to 20:30, a symposium titled 'Ciudad y memoria' will take place. On September 28, from 18:30 to 20:30, Fernanda Canales will deliver a keynote lecture titled 'El lugar como programa'. Admission is free. The event underscores the role of architecture as a device of memory, reflecting Mexico's continuity from ancient civilizations to contemporary proposals, where tradition and modernity engage in dialogue.
