IGArchitects' House of Wall Forest: A 79 m² Home for a Family in a Crab-Claw Shaped Plot

IGArchitects, led by principal architect Masato Igarashi, has designed the House of Wall Forest, a 79 m² residence for a couple and their child. The house is situated on a uniquely shaped plot reminiscent of a crab's claw, with a green path to the south and a transmission tower to the east. Rather than imposing a single unified order on the site or its urban surroundings, the design incorporates multiple orientations that respond directly to the terrain. A series of wall-columns rise at different angles, conceived to act collectively as a group, integrating changes in direction and distance within the space, and creating a buffer territory between urban conditions and daily life. The project, curated by Miwa Negoro, includes structural engineering by XYZ structure (Kousuke Araki), civil construction by ARATA KENCHIKU KOBO (Masanobu Arata), and landscape architecture by SOLSO (Yuuta Itagaki).
