IFOP Survey: 64% of French Women Report Pain During Gynecological Exams
On September 26, recognized as World Contraception Day, INTIMINA unveiled results from its 2026 IFOP survey focusing on sexual and gynecological discomfort experienced by women in France. The survey, which took place in May 2026 and involved 1,020 participants, found that 64% of women reported experiencing pain during gynecological examinations, with rates consistent across age groups (42% GenZ, 70% Millennials, 70% Gen X, 66% Boomers), rising to 91% among those with vaginismus. Furthermore, 55% indicated pain when inserting tampons or menstrual cups. Vaginismus affects 9% of French women, particularly 13% of GenZ and 12% of Millennials. Alarmingly, 65% of those with vaginismus have refrained from medical check-ups due to pain, and only 39% sought professional help for vaginal discomfort.
