ICON's 3D-Printed Homes Span Affordability to Luxury in Texas
The Austin-based construction technology firm, ICON, has implemented its 3D printing technology throughout Texas, producing a range of homes from permanent accommodations for the chronically homeless to high-end retreats. Since its inception in 2017, ICON has successfully constructed 248 buildings utilizing the Vulcan system. Key projects include House Zero (2022) located in East Austin, Wolf Ranch (2025) in Georgetown featuring 100 homes by Lennar, and Wimberley Springs (2025) with residences up to 4,100 square feet. At Community First! Village, ICON has printed 117 buildings since 2019. In the Mueller neighborhood of Austin, a project comprising 12 houses integrates 3D-printed first floors with traditional upper levels. Additionally, the El Cosmico hotel in Marfa is anticipated to open in 2027, while ICON's Titan system, introduced in 2026, will be accessible to builders in 2027.
