IBLA hides compact London house behind brick garden walls
Inglis Badrashi Loddo (IBLA) has finalized the construction of the Walled Courtyard house located on Cleaver Square in Kennington, south London. Spanning 63 square meters, this residence marks the first new addition to the 18th-century square in over 175 years and required rigorous planning approval. Hidden behind restored brick walls, it lacks windows facing the street. Access is granted through a painted timber gate leading to a courtyard equipped with an air-source heat pump, bicycle storage, and waste bins. The interior features rooms that encircle a central garden courtyard with sliding glass doors. The open-plan kitchen-dining area includes bespoke cabinetry. The main bedroom and ensuite are positioned to the west, while an adaptable space lies to the east. Eco-friendly elements comprise high insulation, underfloor heating, and a green roof.
