Hypermaremma 2026: Azzurra Galatolo's 'L'Albero della Maremma' and New Works Across Tuscany

exhibition · 2026-06-14

The eighth edition of Hypermaremma, a contemporary art project conceived in 2019 by Carlo Pratis, Giorgio Galotti, and Matteo d'Aloja, is underway across the Maremma region of Tuscany. The project has been recognized as an associate partner of the Rete del Contemporaneo della Regione Toscana. New for 2026 is 'L'Albero della Maremma' by Azzurra Galatolo (born 1987, Porto Santo Stefano), a corten steel sculpture installed at Cantina Monteverro in Capalbio, inspired by her artist labels for the winery's Verruzzo and Vermentino wines. Luca Bertolo (born 1968, Milan) created 'Osservatorio M1', a mobile installation on Spiaggia della Tagliata in Ansedonia, featuring a beach cabin with a telescope. Iconic works from previous editions remain on view: Mauro Staccioli's 'Prospettiva Cielo' (2004-24) at Capalbio, Giuseppe Gallo's 'Giocolieri dell'Armonia' (2022) along the coast, Giuseppe Ducrot's 'Fontanile' (2023) at the Oasi del Lago di Burano WWF reserve, Francesco Arena's 'La dodicesima altalena' at Terre di Sacra, and Maria Loboda's 'To Separate the Sacred from the Profane' (2025) at the Parco Archeologico dell'Antica Città di Cosa. The project continues through October 2026 and beyond.
