HUT atelier d'architecture Designs 10 m² Katūvu Cabin in the French Alps

The Katūvu cabin, designed by HUT atelier d'architecture, is a 10 m² architectural installation located on the outskirts of the hamlet of Les Prières, along the route to the Col de Tamié, which separates the departments of Savoie and Haute-Savoie in France. The project, curated by Nina Vuga, was completed in 2026 and photographed by David Foessel and Stanislas Gros. The principal architect is Benjamin Fillon, who leads the team alongside Coline Chaptal. The site, positioned at the edge of the forest, has a gentle southwest slope that naturally directs the view toward the summit of the mountain pass and the Abbey of Tamié, a Cistercian monastery founded in the 12th century. The surrounding landscape evokes a sense of elevation—both physical, through the natural ascent toward the pass framed by the first imposing peaks of the Bauges massif, and spiritual, fostered by the presence of a significant religious site and localities with symbolic toponymy. The cabin is categorized under installations and structures, as well as landscape and architecture. The project description emphasizes the unique atmosphere of the vast landscape, which invites a feeling of elevation. The design integrates with the natural terrain, offering a contemplative space that responds to the historical and spiritual context of the site.
