British painter Hurvin Anderson has created a series of works exploring themes of home and belonging, based on a 1983 photograph he took in Handsworth Park in Birmingham, U.K. The series includes 'Ball Watching' (1997) and later versions like 'Ball Watching (Five-a-Side)' (2010), which transform the original scene with Caribbean elements. Anderson's parents immigrated from the Caribbean, and his paintings blend memories of his hometown with tropical landscapes.
