Humanist Modernity: Maciej and Stanisława Nowicki Opens at Center for Architecture in New York

The exhibition Humanist modernity: Maciej and Stanisława Nowicki opens on October 1 at the Center for Architecture in New York. A public talk and a guided tour led by curator Kacper Kępiński, deputy director of NIAiU, accompany the opening. The show presents the work of Stanisława Sandecka-Nowicka and Maciej (Matthew) Nowicki, two significant figures in the history of American and Polish architecture. Its title comes from a concept the architects developed in the 1940s: modernism as a human-centered design approach, concerned with understanding for whom a building is really intended and how it connects a person with the surrounding space. The exhibition traces this idea through their work and asks what their architecture offers us today. The exhibition remains open to the public at the Center for Architecture (536 LaGuardia Place, New York) from October 1, 2026, to March 27, 2027. The poster is by Katarzyna Nestorowicz.
