HOSOO's 300-Year Textile Tradition Meets Contemporary Design
Established in 1688 in Kyoto, HOSOO is a renowned family-owned textile company known for its expertise in Nishijin weaving, a yarn-dyeing method that dates back over 1,200 years. Led by the 12th-generation CEO Masataka Hosoo, the firm has partnered with prestigious brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, Gucci, and The Ritz-Carlton, as well as artists like Teresita Fernández, Peter Marino, and Lady Gaga. In 2023, HOSOO entered into a significant agreement with LVMH Métiers d'Art. The brand launched a five-story flagship store in Kyoto in 2019, showcasing 'Craft Architecture.' Future endeavors include a 42,000-square-meter sericulture facility in Kyoto's Tango region to innovate silk production. HOSOO will also showcase a new vision of Artisanal Hemp at the Tuileries Garden in Paris (March 6-9) and present WAVE WEAVE, a collaboration with Carsten Nicolai, during Milan Design Week at Largo Treves 5.
