Hold to This Earth: Largest UK Survey of American Indigenous Contemporary Art Opens at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield is set to host 'Hold to This Earth,' the most extensive exhibition of contemporary American Indigenous art ever seen in the UK. Kicking off on June 13, the show will run until April 18, 2027. It will display nearly 70 artworks from 38 artists representing 35 Tribal Nations, all drawn from the Tia Collection. Featured artists include Jeffrey Gibson, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, and Raven Halfmoon. The Tia Collection describes the pieces as honoring ancestral knowledge while firmly staying modern, making a strong statement against narratives of erasure. The artists work with various materials like clay, hide, wool, beads, natural pigments, and digital media, blending tradition with contemporary Indigenous experiences.
