Hockney's Serpentine Show Sets Attendance Record; Medina to Curate Guatemala Biennial
David Hockney's show, 'A Year in Normandie and Some Other Thoughts about Painting,' held at Serpentine North in London from March 12 to August 23, attracted around 300,000 attendees, making it the most popular exhibition in the gallery's history. The display included five new portraits and still lifes, along with the 300-foot frieze 'A Year in Normandie' (2020–21). A garden mural will remain accessible until September 20. Hockney highlighted the power of art to combat feelings of despair. Cuauhtémoc Medina is set to curate the 25th Bienal de Arte Paiz, scheduled for November 2027 to February 2028, celebrating the Fundación Paiz's 50th anniversary. Kengo Kuma will be honored with the Andrée Putman Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2027 Créateurs Design Awards. Additionally, two stolen paintings by Eastman Johnson have been recovered, with a total value exceeding $200,000.
