Hissy Cooling Jacket Uses CO₂ Cartridges for Extreme Urban Heat
Hissy, an innovative cooling device from Samsung's Design Membership team, aims to enhance comfort in lightweight clothing. It utilizes a CO₂ cartridge, which converts high-pressure liquid carbon dioxide into a chilling breeze of approximately -30°C, eliminating the need for heavy batteries or fans. This technology overcomes the challenges of previous systems, particularly ineffective portable fans in extreme heat. The garment features an ergonomic Air Path with small perforations to target heat, as well as a magnetic sleeve docking for easy cartridge replacements. The design team, including Dongheon Kang and Minseo Jung, intends to extend this concept to footwear and other lifestyle products.
