Hispanic Society's Sorolla Collection to Open in Valencia in February 2027
In February 2027, the Museo de la Ciudad de València will host the inaugural exhibition of the Joaquín Sorolla collection, presented by the Hispanic Society Museum & Library. This initiative follows a contract signed by Carmen Ortí and Guillaume Kientz, which formalizes an agreement made on July 24, 2025. The initial contract spans four years but can be extended up to fifteen years, with an annual rental fee of €1,150,000, potentially reaching a total of €17.25 million if all extensions are exercised. Curated by Kientz alongside Blanca Pons-Sorolla, the exhibition will highlight Sorolla's artistic journey. Established in 1904, the Hispanic Society possesses the largest Sorolla collection outside of Spain and a notable library for Hispanic art studies.
