Hiro Arquitectos Completes Casa Berna in Peru with Exposed Brick and Lime Wash
Casa Berna, a 220 m² house in Peru, was completed in 2023 by Hiro Arquitectos. The project, curated by Valentina Díaz, features exposed brick masonry finished with lime wash, reversing the common Peruvian practice of plastering over brick. Lead architects Mario Mogollón and Michael Ramirez, along with technical team Sebastián Fernandez-Davila and Camila Campuzano, designed the house. Photographs are by Renzo Rebagliati. The brick walls remain visible on the entrance wall, garden-facing facade, and in the living room, with the bond, joints, and irregularities of the bricklaying left exposed. This constructive decision defines the character of the project.
