High Line Art Opens Public Vote for 2029-2030 Plinth Commissions

High Line Art has introduced 62 new ideas for the seventh and eighth public art pieces to be displayed on the park's plinth at West 30th Street and 10th Avenue, with plans for 2029 and 2030. People can share their opinions online until an unknown deadline, which will help narrow down the options for the two sculptures. Since opening in 2019, the plinth has featured works like Iván Argote's "Dinosaur" (2024), Pamela Rosenkranz's "Old Tree" (2023), and Tuan Andrew Nguyen's "The Light That Shines Through the Universe" (2026), a tribute to the Bamiyan Buddhas lost to the Taliban in 2001. The next commission will be announced in 2027. Notable artists include Nina Chanel Abney and Kelly Akashi, among others, each providing unique designs for public consideration.
