Het Steen in Antwerp Reopens as Visitor and Tourist Reception Center by noAarchitecten
noAarchitecten has completed the transformation of Het Steen in Antwerp into a visitor and tourist reception center, with an area of 5000 m². The project, finished in 2022, was curated by Nina Vuga and includes art integration by Pieter Vermeersch. Photographs were taken by Kim Zwarts, Stijn Bollaert, Tim Fisher, and Pieter Vermeersch. The design is rooted in the building complex's complex construction history: after centuries as part of the city walls, Het Steen became a freestanding structure around 1890 following the rectification of the Scheldt river, and became known as the Het Steen of Antwerp. The project falls under the categories of visitor center, renovations, and heritage, and was submitted by the project team. The original article is available in English.
