Herzog & de Meuron Reveals Updated Renderings of Lusail Museum on Qatar's Al Maha Island
Herzog & de Meuron has released new visuals of the Lusail Museum, situated on Al Maha Island, a 230,000 m² landmass off Lusail, Qatar, which opened in 2022 prior to the FIFA World Cup. Set to be unveiled in 2024, the museum will display the Orientalist art collection of Qatar Museums, featuring pieces by Titian, Eugène Delacroix, and more, along with early photography and historical artifacts. The architectural design comprises three interlocking spheres and various internal areas, including a library and an auditorium. Additionally, the museum will accommodate the Lusail Institute for research and events. Al Maha Island is envisioned as a smart city for 450,000 inhabitants. Herzog & de Meuron is also working on the Memphis Art Museum, Tirana's Palace of Congresses, and the Tour Triangle in Paris.
