Here & Away, a travel platform created by Duo Studio and Andrea Jelić, prioritizes destination photography as the main navigational tool instead of mere decoration. The website features expansive landscape images as its primary navigation, utilizing a large serif typeface around 120pt for property titles and ultra-light weights for additional text, echoing print editorial design. The interface alternates between dark-on-light and light-on-dark themes based on whether users are viewing the index or a destination spread. An unusual horizontal scrolling method presents each property akin to magazine pagination. The color scheme incorporates warm ochres, rich forest greens, and off-whites, reflecting the landscapes of each destination without enforcing a universal brand color. The goal is to create a browsing experience akin to reading, avoiding the temptation to clutter photography with conversion elements.
